How it all started
“Thoughts Blossom into Action. In 2018, a seed of change for marginalized farmers was planted in our minds, marking the inception of our first FPC. Led by Mr. Digant Sharma, Vishwas Jadhav, Dnyaneshwar Jadhav, along with their parents and a few like-minded friends, a social movement took root in the Mahur Taluka region. Our shared passion was to educate farmers about organic practices, yielding poison-free produce that would benefit not only farmers and consumers but also our precious Mother Earth. In essence, this movement aimed to strike a harmonious balance between our environment and economy.”
Journey So Far –
“This seed of change was nurtured through a series of awareness campaigns, gathering farmers who shared our vision. Throughout the year 2018, we tirelessly conducted advocacy activities, and within just 6-8 months, this seed sprouted, bringing approximately 100 farmers into our fold.
As we engaged in these campaigns, it became evident that we needed a legal entity to unite all farmers with a common purpose. In February 2019, Torus FPC was established—a collective endeavor initiated, run, and dedicated to farmers. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of our founders and the generous support of various corporations and NGOs, Torus has witnessed phenomenal growth. In the span of just four years, our family has grown to include 60,000 farmers. Remarkably, 5,000 of them have embraced organic farming practices, with 2,000 undergoing third-party organic certification (NPOP).
Torus has simplified the mobilization of farmers and facilitated a shared commitment to work under a unified leadership. Our focus areas include the cultivation of grains, pulses, cereals, oilseeds, turmeric, and cotton. Under the Torus banner, we proudly introduce the brand ‘DEVANNA,’ which allows us to distribute our produce in Thane through retail outlets.”
